Hwb

Hwb – Supporting Learning at Oak Field Primary School

At Oak Field Primary School, we are committed to providing our pupils with access to high-quality digital learning tools that enhance their educational experience. One of the key platforms we use is Hwb, which is managed and operated by the Welsh Government.

What is Hwb?

Hwb is an online learning platform that offers all maintained schools in Wales access to a wide range of bilingual digital tools and educational resources. Through Hwb, pupils can safely access learning materials, collaborate with their peers, and complete assignments both in school and at home.

How Do Pupils Access Hwb?

Every pupil at Oak Field Primary School has their own secure log-in for Hwb, provided during admission. This allows them to access their learning resources from any internet-enabled device. If you need help with logging in or accessing Hwb from home, please contact your child’s class teacher for support.

Online Personalised Assessments

From Year 2 onwards, pupils will complete their online reading and numeracy tests via the Hwb platform. These are known as personalised assessments, designed to support individual learning progress and identify areas where your child may benefit from additional practice.

Digital Learning Tools

Hwb provides our pupils with access to a variety of powerful digital learning environments, including:

• Microsoft Office 365 – for word processing, presentations, and data handling.

• Google for Education – for collaborative learning and cloud-based storage.

• Minecraft Education – an interactive way to develop problem-solving and creativity.

• Hwb Classes – where teachers can share resources and set assignments online.

Parental Consent and Privacy

During your child’s admission, we ask for parent/carer consent to allow children to use the Hwb platform. The information on how your child’s data is managed is available on the Hwb Privacy Page.

Supporting Learning at Home

Hwb can be accessed from home, providing a seamless link between classroom learning and home learning . We encourage parents and carers to explore the platform with their child to become familiar with the tools and resources available.

For more information about Hwb or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s class teacher.
