School Improvement

Oak Field Primary School - School Development Plan (2024-2027)

What is a School Development Plan (SDP)?

A School Development Plan (SDP) is a strategic plan that outlines the key priorities for Oak Field Primary School over a three-year period (2024-2027). It is designed to support continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and the overall school environment. Our SDP is built upon self-evaluation and evidence-based assessments that help us identify areas for growth and development. It is a dynamic document that evolves as we review and reflect on our progress throughout the year.

Our Approach to Self-Evaluation

At Oak Field Primary School, self-evaluation is an ongoing, reflective process that involves staff, learners, parents, carers, and governors. This continuous cycle of reflection allows us to monitor and evaluate our progress against our key priorities, ensuring that we are meeting the needs of all our pupils and enhancing their learning experiences. Our approach is built around three core areas:

  1. Vision and Leadership - Ensuring effective leadership drives school improvement.

  2. Curriculum, Learning, and Teaching - Delivering a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.

  3. Well-being, Equity, and Inclusion - Fostering an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and supported.

Our Key Priorities (2024-2027)

  1. Well-being, Equity, and Inclusion

    • Becoming an anti-racist organisation and developing a sense of belonging for all.

    • Strengthening our support for learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

    • Enhancing digital wellness for pupils, staff, and families.

    • Improving understanding and support for neurodiverse learners and their families.

  2. Curriculum, Learning, and Teaching

    • Decolonising the curriculum to enrich knowledge and cultural awareness.

    • Promoting cross-curricular learning, with a focus on digital competency and maths.

    • Developing learning dispositions that encourage independence and resilience.

    • Embedding effective assessment, tracking, and progression strategies.

    • Raising standards in reading and writing through structured support and innovative teaching

  3. Community Engagement and Partnerships

  • Strengthening relationships with families and the wider community.

  • Improving school attendance and reducing persistent absenteeism.

  • Expanding multi-agency partnerships to better support pupils and families.

4. Leadership and Culture

  • Building a culture of professional learning and collaborative practice.

  • Strengthening leadership capacity at all levels.

  • Embedding effective monitoring, evaluation, and review (MER) processes.

  • Enhancing the scrutiny, challenge, and support provided by the governing body.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Our progress towards these priorities is monitored regularly through learning walks, data analysis, pupil voice, and community feedback. We reflect on our findings and make adjustments to ensure that our learners are receiving the best possible education and support.

We are committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive. Our SDP is a testament to our dedication to continuous improvement and our belief that, together, we achieve more.
